Vilamoura is the Algarve’s foremost golf and leisure resort. It offers an elegant lifestyle in the most beautiful surroundings. It has a resident population of some 5,000 people, and offers all of the services demanded by an active town, including an international school, medical facilities and a multi-denominational church.

The Marina

Vilamoura’s international marina has over 1000 berths. Boat owners choose Vilamoura for its comprehensive boatyard facilities and support services, but land-lubbers enjoy it too, for its colourful, cosmopolitan atmosphere and leisure facilities.

All around the marina there is a wide choice of bars and restaurants offering everything from a light snack to gourmet dining. Cuisine varies from traditional Portuguese and typically British to true Italian, Indian, Chinese, to mention but some. For an informal lunch with friends to an intimate candlelit dinner for two, the marina can offer it all.

Vilamoura’s yacht club has an active programme of teaching and competitions: it also regularly hosts a series of events for dinghies and larger yachts. You can learn or brush up your skills at other activities including wind-surfing and para-gliding, or just have fun with the water-based sports at Falésia beach during the long hot summer months.

Vilamoura boasts a choice of superb golf courses – but there is a wider choice of activities for all the family. The lawn green bowls club welcomes visitors, as does the tennis centre and the sports and health club. There is an active equestrian centre and special tracks around the resort for riders, bikers, joggers and walkers.

The Beaches

The beautiful golden sands of the Marina and Falésia beaches at Vilamoura both fly the EU blue flag, and boast ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certificates for quality and environmental management.

The beaches have been beautifully organized to offer something for everyone so the whole family can enjoy a full day at the beach. Lifeguards and first aid services mean you can relax. Beach bars offer light snacks, salads and fresh fish with long, cool drinks. Public toilets are kept clean: they are clearly marked and have disabled access.

Vilamoura nightlife is whatever you make it. From Live Music and TV Sports Bars with great atmosphere, to more discreet and sophisticated. Restaurants offer everything from traditional Portuguese dishes to haute cuisine. There’s a cinema, nightclubs and an international casino with daily floor shows. And, of course, there are the fabulous Algarve sunsets.

International events

Vilamoura regularly hosts top-class events in fields as diverse as athletics, sailing and show jumping as well as golf. A varied programme throughout the year ensures there is always something happening, to join in or to enjoy from the sidelines.

The Algarve enjoys long warm summers and gentle winters. Temperatures can reach 35ºC in summer, and are generally around 20ºC in winter.
